Celebrity United gave good account of themselves against Bournemouth's first team,
in front of over 5500 enthusiastic fans but inevitably were beaten by a superior side, conceding 4 late goals which made the 7-1 score line a little over flattering for the sea siders. MC Harvey converted a penalty to give United a fighting chance 3-1 and if Les Ferdinand had converted a good chance just after, things may have been different. Welsh International Goalkeeper Paul Jones was the Man of the Match, pulling off a string of breathtaking saves. Nigel Winterburn, Alex Stewart and Jonathan Wilkes all had excellent games as well. After the match, there was a charity dinner and auction attended by celebrities and Bournemouth players.
This rounded off an excellent day for both Bournemouth and Celebrity United and it is hoped that a return visit next year will be confirmed.
